Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa to sponsor the autumn Gatcombe Park International Horse Trials for the next three years -

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and her Organising committee at Gatcombe Park are delighted to announce a new sponsor for their popular autumn international event. For the next three years the event will run under the title of The Whatley Manor International Horse Trials at Gatcombe Park.

Whatley Manor has close links with the sport of Horse Trials through its owner Christian Landolt. Christian has successfully competed in eventing at international level for many years including representing his home country of Switzerland. Today, he is also well known as a respected judge at three day events worldwide. For the last week he has been officiating at the famous Badminton event which is held just a short distance from the hotel.

Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa is the sponsor of the 2011/12/13 International Horse Trials at Gatcombe Park. The 5* Hotel, at Easton Grey near Malmesbury, is the holder of a number of prestigious Commendations as well as a Michelin 2* Restaurant and the beautiful Aquarias Spa.

In order to demonstrate their commitment to add some extra interest to the event Whatley Manor Head Chef Martin Burge, holder of two Michelin Stars, will undertake a live Cookery Demonstration on Sunday afternoon immediately prior to the last prize giving of the day at approximately 17:00hrs. Spectators are invited to attend.

The Autumn Whatley Manor International, Novice and Intermediate Horse Trials (Friday 16th – Saturday 17 –Sunday 18th) held near Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, is once again a key fixture for international riders as they build up their spring campaign.

The event was oversubscribed and it is expected that Riders from 12 nations will be represented within the anticipated 600+ entry which should include a number of world famous Gold Medallists. It is also expected that Gatcombe based Zara Phillips will be competing on both Saturday and Sunday..

Now in its 16th year of running the event takes place on a course designed by HRH The Princess Royal and her event organiser Pattie Biden. The event utilises a different area of the Gatcombe Park Estate to that used by the Festival of British Eventing.

Starting at 9.00am on both days, dressage, show jumping and cross-country phases run throughout. The event attracts many interesting shops, which will include the Gatcombe Collection. At various times during both days, HRH The Princess Royal will present prizes.

Gatcombe Park is situated at Hampton Fields, mid-way between Minchinhampton and Avening; the event will be signposted from both directions. Spectator admission is £6 for a car and occupants and £4 for a programme. For full information about directions accommodation, timetable and all entries visit our web site:-
